Government-Backed ECO Funding

At Eco-Heating Expert, we work with a UK government initiative called the Energy Company Obligation (ECO). This program is designed to help households reduce energy bills, cut carbon emissions, and live in warmer, more efficient homes.

The ECO scheme has been around since 2013, and it’s evolved over the years. Right now, we’re operating under the current phase known as ECO4. This latest version officially launched on April 1st, 2022, and it covers installations carried out from June 1st, 2022, all the way until 2026.

Through this scheme, Eco-Heating Expert can access funding that allows us to upgrade your home at no cost to you. That might include a brand-new central heating system, loft insulation, or other energy-saving measures — all aimed at making your home more comfortable and less expensive to heat.

Sounds Too Good to Be True?

That’s the reaction we get a lot. And honestly, we get it.

When someone tells you they can improve your home’s heating for free, of course you’re going to be skeptical. But don’t just take our word for it — look it up for yourself.

Head over to Google and type in:

“ECO4 delivery guidance v1.1”

This is an official document published by OFGEM (the energy regulator for Great Britain). It’s a bit technical, but if you’re curious, here are a few useful pages you can jump to:

  • Pages 57–58: Details on Local Authorities and the four “FLEX” eligibility routes

  • Page 95: Full breakdown of the types of upgrades allowed under the scheme

  • Page 106: Specific rules about loft and cavity wall insulation

Page 124: What counts as an “inefficient” heating system (for example, non-condensing boilers made before 2005)

Do You Qualify?

You could be eligible for free upgrades through ECO4 if your household meets certain criteria.

If You Receive One of These Benefits:

  • Universal Credit

  • Income Support

  • Housing Benefit

  • Pension Credit

  • Working Tax Credit

  • Child Tax Credit

  • Income-Based Job Seekers Allowance (JSA)

  • Income-Based Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)

  • Child Benefit (within income threshold)

OR

If you’re not currently receiving benefits, you might still qualify through what’s known as the Local Authority FLEX scheme.

Here’s How:

Route 1: Household Income
If your combined household income is under £31,000 (before tax), you may be eligible.

Route 3: NHS Referral
If your GP or NHS Trust refers you due to health conditions that make you vulnerable to the cold — such as cardiovascular issues, respiratory problems, limited mobility, or a weakened immune system — you may qualify this way too.

At Eco-Heating Expert, we believe every home deserves to be warm, safe, and energy-efficient. And thanks to ECO funding, we’re helping make that a reality — at no cost to homeowners.
